We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Protein Sciences Team Leader to join a rapidly growing company focussed on drug discovery.
The role:
As a Protein Sciences Team Leader you will lead a team of highly skilled Protein Scientists focussed on expression construct design, cloning, protein expression, protein purification, and crystallisation.
Responsibilities:
· Lead projects from project design, planning and execution through to completion.
· Lead and develop a team of Protein Scientists
· Provide scientific expertise in protein expression (E.coli, insect and mammalian cells) and purification of different types of recombinant proteins.
· Optimise and troubleshoot protein purification and crystallisation (Includes: affinity, ion exchange and size exclusion chromatography using Akta systems).
· Write and present project reports.
· Ensure all work is carried out to relevant standards.
To be successful as a Protein Sciences Team Leader:
· You will have a PhD or BSc/MSc in Biochemistry, Biology or protein sciences (or similar) with industry experience, focused in the field of protein production and protein-ligand crystallography.
· Experience in project management and/ or line management is essential.
· You will have expertise in recombinant protein expression in E. coli, insect cells and mammalian cells along with protein purification and crystallisation.
· Experience in CryoEM or X-ray crystallography is highly desirable.
